AI Chats Advertising

The New Search Engine Frontier

AI chatbots are all the rage right now. Much like Crypto and Web3 last year, AI chats like ChatGPT, Bing AI and Google Bard are getting a lot of buzz. There has been a lot of discussion and many resources on how to use AI to generate advertising copy, images, and other creative elements. What I would like to explore is the future of AI chatbots as the new frontier for ad space.

Unlike Crypto and Web3, AI chats have provided immediate benefits to a wide range of users. Instead of a more nebulous money generating scheme and hard to comprehend “blockchain technologies” the AI chats are quickly and easily understandable. Enter a prompt and you will get an immediate and relevant response to your query. This has been used to improve workflows or solve creative challenges that would typically take up a lot of your time.

All of this led to a high adoption rate amongst the general public; and as we know the first rule of digital advertising is reaching your potential customers where they are. As that adoption rate increases and platforms move to monetize them advertising will soon become a regular part of using them. Microsoft has already put forward their initial intentions regarding this and Google and Chat GPT will be sure to follow suit soon.

For our Microsoft Start partners, placing a rich caption of Microsoft Start licensed content beside the chat answer helping to drive more user engagement with the content on Microsoft Start where we share the ad revenue with the partner. We’re also exploring placing ads in the chat experience to share the ad revenue with partners whose content contributed to the chat response.

And we have an example of what that looks like in practice too thanks to this tweet from Deedy:

This is an exciting new development for advertising. Getting a new platform to reach customers where they are super engaged. As these updates and changes come out be sure to follow us and subscribe to our newsletter to stay up to date!
